About Us

This planning research exercise was commissioned by the Countryside Conservation Office under the Environmental Protection Department, HKSAR Government. Our project under the Hong Kong Countryside Conservation Funding Scheme (CCFS) is listed as “Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Conservation and Revitalisation in Hing Chun Yeuk Seven Villages, Kuk Po and Fung Hang.”

Our team is led by Professor Shenjing He from the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong (HKU DUPAD). Our Co-Investigators are Dr Kenneth Tang and Dr Jin Zhu.

Our Project Aim

To propose a comprehensive concept plan and implementation strategy for the Yan Chau Tong region, principally the Hing Chun Yeuk seven villages, Kuk Po, and Fung Hang.

We undertook comprehensive baseline and community engagement assessments, including systems analysis, stakeholder engagement, questionnaire surveys, etc to determine the underlying on-the-ground situation and the potential for future development.

Our plan aims to rediscover the cultural and ecological values of these nine villages as part of a planning vision and to contribute to the long-term sustainability and vibrancy of the region.
